Gisele Esquivel serves as an Education Specialist in the Community and Education Services department at Ocean State Media. With seven years of experience as an elementary classroom teacher in both the U.S. and South Korea under a Fulbright Fellowship, Gisele is dedicated to creating inclusive educational environments that serve all learners. As a first-generation college graduate and daughter of Colombian immigrants, she is passionate about equitable access to high-quality educational materials, particularly for diverse learners and multilingual backgrounds. In her current role, Gisele collaborates with stakeholders to develop educational programming, provide resources, and offer professional development opportunities for educators and families. She is committed to fostering nurturing environments where young children can excel academically, socially, and emotionally, drawing from her extensive classroom and international experiences to support early childhood education initiatives at Ocean State Media.

Gabby is the Community Engagement Specialist at Ocean State Media. A proud Providence native and Providence College graduate, she holds degrees in Global Studies and Theatre. She spent six years teaching in public and charter schools in Providence and remains deeply passionate about arts advocacy and equitable education for all. Gabby also brings a strong background in business management to support a variety of educational and community initiatives. Outside of work, she performs in local theatre productions, gives historical tours of Providence on weekends, and enjoys quality time with her Jack Russell, Conley.

Pam Johnston is President & CEO of Ocean State Media, Rhode Island’s home for PBS and NPR. She stepped into the role in August 2024 and led the unification of Rhode Island PBS and The Public’s Radio to create a single, statewide public media organization serving audiences across platforms and communities.


Pam leads Ocean State Media with a bold, community-centered, audience-first vision for local journalism and storytelling—grounded in trust, listening, and deep local connection.

Michael Jones is a photojournalist for Ocean State Media. Previously, he was a news photographer for Boston 25 News and ABC6 News in Providence. He is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island. mjones@oceanstatemedia.org

Isabella Jibilian is a producer for the newsmagazine broadcast, “Rhode Island PBS Weekly.” She covers topics including politics, the environment, health, and the arts. She has been honored by the New England Emmys and the National Educational Telecommunications Association for her reporting. Previously, she reported for Business Insider and Reuters News. Michael Frank is a photojournalist and he came to Ocean State Media after working as a videographer/editor at PBS Wisconsin. Michael's work has been recognized with a Chicago/Midwest Emmy and a Regional Edward R. Murrow award. Mary Steele is an experienced New England Emmy and Murrow award-winning journalist. A producer, writer, and educator, her work in broadcast journalism encompasses news, features, and long-form documentary. She’s shared stories from more than a dozen countries and loves digging through archives to bring history to life. A New England native, Steele is thrilled to be part of the creative team at Ocean State Media, finding and telling the stories behind three of her passions: art, animals and current affairs.

Blake Carpentier is a Photographer/ Video Editor who has been with the station for over five years. During this time he has edited and filmed a variety of projects such as High School Quiz Show, Hi Neighbor! the Narragansett Brewery documentary and ART inc. His editing and filming on ART inc. won him telly awards and he has also been a contributing producer for a few segments in the series. Blake has also worked in the engineering department and multiple jobs in studio productions.
