‘The Christmas Show’ at The Vets in Providence, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m.
It’s a one-night-only, 90-minute variety show put on by Trinity’s collection of artists, spanning all ages. There’s music and dancing, with new numbers and familiar classics, and it’s all ages. More details.
Speakeasy Choir at The United Theatre in Westerly, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m.
You can join a singing ensemble for the night, learn a song with harmonies, and take the stage to perform with support from a five-piece rock band. This time, you’ll learn Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” And just like a speakeasy, it’s for adults 21 and over. More details.
Blackbeard’s Krampus Market at The Met in Pawtucket, Dec. 13, 12-7 p.m.
A market for those who want to celebrate the darker side of the season, it’s named for the half-goat, half-demon creature of Central European folklore that’s a sort of counterpart to Santa. Instead of giving gifts, the Krampus punishes naughty kids. The market is described as a “shadowy snow globe,” featuring an immersive holiday market with oddities, taxidermy, horror art, ritual jewelry, witchy curios, and hand-made gifts. ‘Songs of Darkness and Light’ at Community Music Works in Providence, Dec. 13, 1:30-4 p.m.
This family music event features storyteller Valerie Tutson accompanied by the CMW musicians as they celebrate the solstice. It’s a casual drop-in event with crafts, treats and hot chocolate. Performances are 2 and 3 p.m.More information.
