Rhode Island’s vibrant culinary scene earned significant recognition Wednesday as the James Beard Foundation unveiled the 2026 semifinalists for its prestigious Restaurant and Chef Awards — often called the Oscars of the food world.

The announcement highlights outstanding chefs and restaurants from across the country and sets the stage for the next round: finalists, to be announced March 31. Winners will be celebrated at the awards gala in Chicago on June 15.

Rhode Island establishments and chefs were named across several major categories, showcasing the state’s diversity of talent and innovation in the culinary industry.
