John Hoey

John is a strategic communications/media relations consultant specializing in driving positive change, managing crises and building strong reputations. Before launching his practice, JTH Strategies, in 2024, John served as executive director of communications at the University of Massachusetts' Office of the President, advancing the mission of the five-campus, 75,000-student, 24,000-employee, 500,000-plus alumni university.

John’s UMass experience followed 13 years as a newspaper reporter, including six as the Massachusetts State House bureau chief for the daily Brockton (Mass.) Enterprise. During his time at the State House, he was elected by his peers as president of the Massachusetts State House Press Association. John is a product of public higher education, earning his undergraduate degree from Bridgewater State University and his graduate degree at UMass Boston. He lives in Attleboro, Massachusetts.
