Over 2,000 people are expected to descend on the sleepy village of Adamsville in Little Compton on Sunday for what’s been dubbed the World’s Shortest St. Paddy’s Day Parade.

“Expect something that you’ve never seen before,” said Louis Pieri, master of ceremonies for the parade.

The origins of the parade were modest. It was organized in 2022 by the Kinnane Brothers film studio, their family, and some friends as a way to raise money for a local food bank. It takes place on Main Street -- near the studio – and runs a grand total of 89 feet.

What the parade lacks in length, it makes up for in community spirit.

“The energy is just electric,” said Pieri. “You feel it as soon as you step onto the route. People just have fun with it. There’s something for everyone.”

2026 marks the fifth year of the parade. It features dozens of floats, classic cars, Irish step dancers, and musical entertainment.

“It’s become a very highly-attended event that’s raised well over $20,000 in each of the years to support the local food banks,” said Pieri. “It’s become a staple of the community.”

The parade kicks off at 3 p.m. on Sunday. For those who plan to attend, Pieri advises they get into town early to find a suitable parking spot.

Other parades of note around the state:

The Newport St. Patrick’s Day Parade steps off Saturday, March 14 at 11 a.m. from Newport City Hall and winds through downtown. The West Warwick St. Patrick’s Day Parade follows Sunday, March 15 at 1 p.m., beginning at Washington Street and West Warwick Avenue. And the Providence St. Patrick’s Day Parade takes place the following weekend — Saturday, March 21 at noon — heading down Smith Street toward the Rhode Island State House.

The incident brought America’s commonplace gun violence just feet away from a room full of lawmakers, top officials, and journalists. It also may add to a string of troubling political violence in the U.S. that includes two assassination attempts on President Trump.
