Who We Are: Ocean State Media is the locally owned and operated, award-winning public media organization serving Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts. Formerly known as Rhode Island PBS and The Public’s Radio, Ocean State Media was established in 2025 to deliver in-depth local journalism and community connection. As part of our commitment to expand our digital reach, we are looking for a Photographer Editor to edit digital content, build and manage projects, and manage digital content from partner media organizations. Position Title: Editor / Photographer
Reports To: Production Manager
Location: Providence, Rhode Island

Summary: The Editor / Photographer plays a key role in creating compelling content for broadcast. They collaborate with producers on shooting and editing segments, as well as editing full show episodes and documentaries. The Editor/Photographer also creates motion graphics to insert into segments.

What the Editor / Photographer Position Does:

  • Edit high quality stories and programs on either Adobe Premiere or Final Cut editing system.
  • Work as part of the field production team operating equipment, including cameras, lights and audio.
  • Create motion graphics elements.
  • Collaborate closely with producers and the audience engagement team on story production and distribution.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and five years of experience in video editing as well as shooting on location and in studio, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated videography and editing skills.
  • Ability to create motion graphics using Adobe After Effects.
  • Must be able to problem solve.
  • Ability to work independently toward a common goal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Willing /able to take direction.
