Thank you for supporting public media in Rhode Island as we begin this new chapter as Ocean State Media. While our organization now operates as Ocean State Media, our Tax Identification Number, for now, is 22-2859005, under the legal name Rhode Island PBS Foundation. This is an unfortunate delay due to the recent government shutdown. Please note, this tax ID number is for both The Public’s Radio and Rhode Island Public Foundation.
When making a gift through Donor Advised Funds, IRAs, or other giving vehicles, please reference Rhode Island PBS Foundation and use the Tax ID above to ensure your support is directed to Ocean State Media.

Donor Advised Fund (DAF)
Recommending a grant from your DAF is a powerful way to donate to Ocean State Media.
Donor advised funds are one of the easiest and most tax-advantageous ways to make a gift. The following information is provided to assist you in making a grant from your donor advised fund:

Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCD)
If you are 70 ½ years or older, this is an easy, tax-wise way to support Ocean State Media’s work using your IRA. With a qualified charitable distribution, or QCD, you can use IRA savings you no longer need to make an immediate impact.
If you are 73 years old or older, your QCD can count towards your required minimum distribution (RMD). Please speak with your retirement plan advisor to see if a QCD may be an option to support your philanthropic giving.
Gifts of Stock
You may be able to save on income tax and avoid capital gains tax by giving a gift of long-term appreciated stock (held for more than one year) to Ocean State Media. How does charitable car donation work?
All you need is your vehicle’s title and we’ll take care of the rest, including fast, free pick-up of your car donation. Once your vehicle has been sold, you’ll be sent a receipt for your tax records and the sale proceeds will be donated to Ocean State Media in your name.

Many employers across Southern New England sponsor matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions or volunteer hours made by their employees. Please check with your company’s personnel office to see if that option is available. If so, please obtain a matching gifts form and include it when you mail your check to us.

Some of our donors want to provide support for a particular genre of programming — science, the arts, history, or children’s, for example. Others believe that Ocean State Media should have the flexibility to develop projects in response to emerging opportunities. All gifts support the ongoing mission of Ocean State Media to produce and present educational content that serves the public.

Ocean State Media volunteers are as diverse as our programming. They include people of all ages and backgrounds. Some can spare a lot of time; others only a little. But one thing they all have in common is their eagerness to serve the Ocean State Media community.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Community Events
Volunteers assist staff and act as greeters and hosts to represent Ocean State Media at social, fundraising, and educational events held throughout the year. Join us for events like:
- Annual fundraisers and auctions
- Costume character visits at the station or in the community
- Studio receptions and/or live show tapings
- Pre-performance hospitality and information table assistance at area events
Office Assistance
Volunteers assist with stuffing and mailing letters, data entry, and various office work requested by Ocean State Media staff.
